CAF Champions League:Pillars Plan Big For 2014

Head coach of Nigeria league champions in 2013, Baba Ganaru has disclosed there would be far reaching changes to the team as part of measures to ensure a good outing in the continental competition next year. “We are going to do a good recruitment so that we will give Nigeria good representation when the champions league hostility resumes. Part of plans he said would be recruitment of more players and reordering of priorities.
According to Ganaru, Pillar’s Champions League chances are very bright, as the team had begun intensive preparations soon after the Nigerian season ended recently.
the team would intensify training to ensure that we really make an impact in the continent,” adding that “the team’s management is set to recruit new players ahead of the new season.
‘’We are going to avoid what happened last Nigeria and we will make Nigeria proud come next year. We will endeavor to play in the finals, he enthused.
The Kano side made history by winning the league title back to back but must next make an impact in Africa to join the elite clubs from Nigeria such as Shooting Stars, Enugu Rangers and Eyimba which have won on title or another in the continent.
While Enyimba have won the champions League twice, in 2003/2004, Shooting Stars and Rangers have in their kitty, the defunct CAF Cup.
As at time of going to press, the Nigerin League champions have yet to decide contracting one of two  ex- internationals- Kadiri Ikhana and Okey Emordi as new coach to handle the team.The two post a fine record of having won the domestic league title and the CAF Champions League with Enyimba International of Aba.  Ihana did in 2003 while Emordi followed in 2004.
