THE majority of people will tell you Cristiano Ronaldo and
Lionel Messi are the two best players on the planet, but if history is anything
to go by, neither will win the 2013 Ballon d'Or in Zurich.
That accolade will instead go to Bayern Munich's Franck
Ribery, and the Frenchman is fully deserving of the game's top individual
honour.
It's true the goal statistics of Ronaldo and Messi are truly
breathtaking; 55 for the Real Madrid superstar and 37 for Barcelona's Argentinian maestro in the voting
period; but football is about results, and that's what sets the Bayern winger
apart.
