Sochi: Accommodations And sScurity Are Ready, IOC Official

*Organisers test run for opening day
The Sochi Winter Olympic Games, which open on Friday, the IOC Communications Director, Mark Adams, says hotels will be ready, and concerns about the safety of athletes could be laid to rest.
"There are 41,000 rooms that are being provided for these Games, of which 20,000 are new, brand new rooms. As I also understand - and I may be wrong - I understand that not a single person has gone without a room, and that if they haven’t got a room at this stage, a better, similar or a better room has been found whilst their room is finished." Mark Adams, IOC Director of Commumnications said, "The IOC has not given any advice that the athletes shouldn’t go somewhere. That’s not... We believe the security is being handled very well by the Russian authorities."
Adams briefed the media on Sunday at the Olympic Games media center, five days ahead of the opening ceremony. He says the IOC executive board have received their last update on Sochi, and that they’re confident the Games will be safe.
Sochi Olympic chief, Dmitry Chernyshenko had warned protests by athletes over Russia’s anti-gay propaganda law would not be allowed at news conferences. IOC President, Thomas Bach, has also urged athletes to refrain from protests on the podium. He cited an Olympic rule that forbids political statements in Olympic venues.
