Pelican Stars forward, Ugochi Okoro has expressed hopes that
her team can stun Bayelsa Queens this weekend in the weekend match of the women
league. The game holds at the Oghara Stadium, in Delta State.
The Calabar-based club side had put up an increadible performance
last Sunday to record pulsating win over
Osun Babes for a first league full points.
Ugochi, who moved to the club at the close of last season
from Federal Capital Territory (RCT) Queens,
believes that they can post a repeat performance against Bayelsa Queens, who
are yet to record a win this season.
“We had a very good outing last Sunday with the win over
Osun Babes. It
Was a tough encounter
But we were better and
deserved the victory which was our first win of the season.
“Playing against Bayelsa this weekend is going to be
interesting. They’re a good side with some fantastic players but we’ll be equal
to the task. The victory over Osun Babes is a morale booster for us and
hopefully we can replicate that in Oghara or atleast return home with a point,”
she said.
Although yet to kick the ball for Pelican Stars, Ugochi
remains positive that her time will come.
“I did dress against Osun Babes but I’m confident that my
chance will come and when it comes i’m going to grab it with my two hands,” she
added.
