| *ON FULL ALERT: Okon |
The Super Falcons Coach, Edwin Okon has declared that his
side will not underrate their Rwandan opponents when both teams meet in a two
leg qualifiers for the 2014 Africa Women’s Championship in Namibia.
Nigeria drew bye into the stage following the last minute
withdrawal of Sierra Leone in the second round of the qualifiers, while the
Rwandans went past a strong Kenyan side on 3-2 aggregate of 2-1,
0-1.
The Rwandans will host the first leg in Kigali
in the weekend of third week of May while the return leg will be played in Abuja in the weekend of
the first week of June.
Looking ahead of the fixture, Okon said that the Rwandans
could prove a stubborn nut to crack considering their victory over Kenya but
insist the Super Falcons will be well prepared for the clash.
“It’s a normal fixture and we’ve known who our opponents
are, all for us to do is prepare and face them. I’ve not met them before or
watch their games but we just have to prepare well for them.
“For them to have beaten Kenya then they must be a very good
side. I don’t see them to pose any threat to our qualification but football is
football we just need to prepare well. It’s either you prepare well to succeed
or prepare to lose and I think we’ll prepare to succeed,” he said.
He assured that the Super Falcons will regroup next month to
commence preparations for the two leg encounter. Victory for the former African
champions will guarantee their participation in the 2014 Africa Women
Championship in Namibia.
