Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni will flag off the
2014 Africa Cross Country Championship scheduled to be held here on
March 16.Dominic Otuchet, president Uganda Athletics Federation told Xinhua in an interview on Tuesday that Museveni will flag off the Championship at Kololo Independence grounds.
Otuchet said he expects the Ugandan team to be led by double Commonwealth gold medalist Moses Kipsiro to perform well.
Uganda will host the championships after the last African Cross Country Championship was held in Cape Town, South Africa. It will be the 3rd edition since its re-launch in 2011.
Otuchet said they expect teams from Madagascar, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Seychelles and Comoros. The other countries expected to send athletes include; Somalia, South Africa, Rwanda, Mali, Algeria, Eritrea, Mauritius, Kenya, Sudan, Burundi, Benin, Morocco, Nigeria, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Guinea, Gambia, Zambia and Tanzania.

Seniors (Men): Moses Kipsiro, Daniel Rotich, Moses Kibet, Isaac Ayeko, Thomas Ayeko, Ben Siwa, Peter Kibet and Timothy Toroitich
Senior (Women): Juliet Chekwel, Linet Chebet, Rebecca Cheptegei, Nancy Cheptegei, Vanice Chemutai, Doreen Chesang and Winnie Nannyondo
Junior (Boys): Joshua Cheptegei, Alex Cherop, Mande Abdalla, Stephen Kissa, Felix Chemonges, Ben Samikwo Kipyeko and Isaac Kibet
Junior (Girls): Stella Chesang, Patricia Chwekwemoi, Zena Chebet, Janet Chemusto, Karen Kwepkwemboi, Phanice Chemutai and Esther Chekwemoi.
