Women football:Ugochi Elated By Pelican Stars Switch

Pelican Stars new catch, Ugochi Rita Okoro has said it a dream com tru at by the chance to play for former all time Nigerian women club champions, Calabar-based Pelican Stars side in newly the rejuvenated Women Premier League.
Ugochi, who was a former FCT Queens of Abuja top scorer with nine goals at the close of last season,  who completed her move to the Pelicans in January, said “I cannot wait too long to see the season kick off  in the hope of donning the colours of the Carnival city clubside.
Ugochi, who is also the junior women team (U-20) Super Falconets
Forward expressed confidence she would make a success with team while insisting that she has what it takes to help Pelican Stars win laurels in this season.
“It’s been awesome joining up with Pelican Stars for the coming season. It’s not been easy though, trying to adjust to the new weather, the new season and new players as well as getting to know the new management. Honestly it’s not been easy and i’m pushing on by the grace of God.
“I’m looking forward to scoring more goals my new club, play better football and move forward. Being in the national team has been one of the most important things in my life now,” she said.
She had good memories of her time at  (FCT) Queens Abuja, saying time would bring better fortunes at Pelicans as in the good old days of the Calabar side.

“FCT Queens was not all that bad. It’s a good club because it’s a place where i started and I started very well there. I had the chance to play because the coach (John Wakili) really gave everybody a chance to play. It’s not like a team where you get a coach, who will not give you a chance. Once you’re good he will allow you to play and deliver and once you’re delivering you still remain in the team.
“So playing at FCT Queens was a great experience for me and I must admit it’s one of the best clubs I had to play for and I’ve no regret. The only problem we had was the management not paying but the paid up all the bills they were indebted,” said.
