TWO of the biggest clubs in the world resume their bitter rivalry when Barcelona takes on Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
A loss for Barca could be taken as yet another signal that its era
of dominance is coming to an end, following hot on the heels of
elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
However,
victory could give Gerardo Martino’s men just the boost they need as
they try win the three way battle for the La Liga title.
Portuguese
superstar Cristiano Ronaldo may be missing through injury but there
will still be no shortage of football royalty on display at Valencia’s
Mestalla stadium.
Argentine legend Lionel Messi will be aiming to
link with Brazilian partner in crime Neymar to guide Barca to cup glory,
while Madrid will be hoping its pacy attack force of Karim Benzema,
Isco, Angel Di Maria and Gareth Bale will get the job done for Los
Blancos.
Barcelona has injury troubles of its own, with veteran defenders
Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique both missing the game through injury,
meaning a makeshift central defence pairing of Javier Mascherano and
Marc Barta will have to get the job done for the Catalan club.
