Coach of Nigeria's
national junior tennis team, Ubale Mohammed on has expressed optimism that the
players chosen to represent thecountry at the forthcoming African Youth Tennis
Championship would emerge victorious.
The Nigerian tennis players had been training vigorously for
the competition which will be hosted by Botswana
between May 22 and May 31, Mohammed said this in Kaduna State,
where the players are camping. "We want to play in finals this time around
and win the trophy. We are known among the best in tennis and we want to
maintain our position," said he, adding the players' performance at a
recently concluded competition in Kenya was commendable.
At the competition hosted by the East African nation, two
Nigerian players reached semi finals before losing to Egypt in the
finals, while two others were eliminated in the quarter finals. "But the
players in Kaduna
are known for their good performance in the game of tennis. We hope to play
finals in the coming event," he added.
