World Campionships:Para-powerlifters Again Excel With 5 Gold Medals

Nigerian power-lifters  have one more proved their worth by ending  the 2014 IPC  Powerlifting World Championships in Dubai in third position,  winning 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals on the last day of competition on Friday.. Gold medals were won by Adesokan Yakubu in the men’s 49 kg class, Ibrahim Abdulazeez in the men’s 97kg class, Precious Orji in the women 86 kg class, Esther Onyema in the women’s 55kg class and Ijeoma Iherobiem in the women’s 73kg class. By the same tokenLoveline Obiji won a silver in women 86kg class  and Ulonnam Anthony grabbed a bronze in the men 59 kg class to push the country up the medal table. Strikingly, Adesokan added another feather to his cap as he broke a world record in his final lift of 181kg over Vietnam’s Le van Cong who had made a lift of 103kg hence the Nigerian got into the record books once more and completed a unique Grand Slam of Paralympic, world and Commonwealth titles.
