English newspaper The Telegraph has reported that
Chelsea are to begin their summer squad overhaul with a double move for
Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid pair Diego Costa and Filipe
Luis, as coach Jose Mourinho strives to improve on a season whereby his
team came so close to reaching the pinnacle of European football.
According
to the source, both players have already agreed terms in principle,
with Costa in particular keen to wrap up a move before this summer's
World Cup kicks off next month.
A move for Luis is perhaps a
little more surprising, but a sterling performance in the two teams'
Champions League semi final this week has convinced Chelsea to move for
the 28 year-old left back, and The Telegraph has quoted a price of £16.5 million for the four times capped player.
Should
the pair move to Stamford Bridge, there is every chance that the club
could field up to six Brazilian-born players next term, albeit there are
doubts over the future of centre back David Luiz, who has been linked
with a move to Barcelona for some time.
