United boss-in-waiting Van Gaal is hoping to succeeed where David Moyes failed - bring Cesc Fabregas to Old Trafford.
Fabregas was top of Moyes’s wanted list last off-season but the Spanish international continually rejected his overtures to stay with Barcelona.
But with Barca possibly entering a ‘transitional’ period, maybe it’s the right time for United to pounce?
In other possible encouraging news for United, long-time United target, Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus, has interestingly refused to commit his future to the German club, saying ‘I want to win medals’. Just as well he wasn’t at United nthis season then.
But United are sure to have a serious fight on his hands if they want to attract Thomas Mueller and Toni Kroos to the club.
The Bayern Munich pair have played a major part in the club’s recent success and won’t come cheaply if club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has his way.
“If a player does not feel comfortable with Bayern Munich, he must come to my office. Then you have to talk about it,” he said.
WOULD HAZARD REALLY LEAVE CHELSEA?
Eden Hazard has reportedly had enough of Jose Mourinho’s inflammatory barbs and could be headed for a summer move to Europe.
On the same day Arsene Wenger publically lamented the influencial Belgian’s decision to choose Chelsea over Arsenal two years ago, comes revelations that all is not well at Stamford Bridge.
Publically lauded by ‘The Special One’ a matter of only a few month ago, Hazard has been on the end of some stinging Mourinho criticism in recent matches as Chelsea’s title asssault fell apart.
Mourinho has stated publically that he wants a ‘killer striker’ to provide the punch up front next season, with Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa thought to be his number one target.
But he may just have to wait as the Spaniard has now said he won’t leave Madrid until the end of next season.
I’m sure Mourinho has Plans B to H to fall back on.
Meanwhile, Bacary Sagna could complete a move made famous by Ashley Cole and join Chelsea from Arsenal. The French international has turned down European opportunities for the chance to stay in the EPL.
Has Eden Hazard fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho?
