Johan Cruyff gave his opinion of the current situation at FC Barcelona during a charity event in Badalona and left no stone unturned
as he spoke freely about all the hot topics at the Catalan club: the
talks with Luis Enrique, their chances of winning the league and Messi's
contract renewal, were just a few of the issues he touched upon.
Messi: "The renewal of Messi's contract is just a quick fix because all eyes were on him after what happened with Neymar. But what about players like Xavi, who have also done a lot for Barça? It's not Neymar's fault, he's a victim and I don't want to give him a bad name. His agent didn't manage things properly."
Luis Enrique: "It is unethical to meet Luis Enrique in public with the Liga at stake and a Celta-Real Madrid game in sight. I don't know what Barça's project is. We'll have to see if Luis Enrique's ideas match the clubs'."
Elections: "The normal thing would be to hold elections this year. If you're talking about a new Camp Nou, then you have to vote for the people who will be in charge over the next few years."
Cruyff also defended the importance of Víctor Valdés: "They should erect a statue to him for everything he has done. He deserves a public tribute, not a private one with the players, because the public owe him so much.
