Only In Japan. Horse Stumbles, Stops Running But Still wins race

HERE is the proof you should never, ever tear up your ticket on a horse race until it’s run and won.
The leader in this recent race at Japan’s Funabashi racecourse on the outskirts of Tokyo was cruising as it entered the home straight. At just 308 metres, the straight is short by the standards of most Australian metropolitan racecourses, which doesn’t leave much time to recover from mishaps.
But that’s exactly what happened in a recent race at the dirt track. For no apparent reason, the leader stopped galloping, pulling up abruptly. It even seemed to put in a few trotting strides.
And that, it appeared, was that. Tear up your tickets. Yet another way for punters to lose.
But there’s a twist in this tale. See, nobody told the horse it was beaten. And somehow, under heavy urging by the jockey, it found its stride again. Then like a Ferrari chasing Corollas, it overhauled its rivals with ease.
Eventually it raced away to a two length win. All of which leads to two possible conclusions:
Either the beaten horses were among the slowest animals ever to set hoof upon a track. Or the winner was one of the fastest.
Either way, Japanese horse racing is weird. And the race caller’s hyper-excited call is gold, even though we can’t understand a word of it.
(Mind you, if you think all that was weird, you should probably watch the video below. No, we don’t understand it either)

If you understand this, you are insane
