Union Bank
player Ignatius Boniface, has tasked the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF)
on the standard of the slam and dunk game in the country, saying it’s the only
way to move forward.
Boniface who had played professional
basketball abroad before joining Union Bank at the close of last season told National
Mirror that basketball in the country
has the potential of improving if the NBBF could execute positive technical and
mobilization programmes.
“I want the
NBBF to ensure that there are regular clinics and workshops for coaches, players
and even fans. This will guarantee improvement of the game as current rules and
techniques will be well understood.
“I’m glad
that we out dunked Royal Hoopers 79-69 but there were obvious foul calls. Most
of the referees and even players find it difficult to interpret the rules which
result to unnecessary provocation, tension and even injuries.
“The NBBF should regularly bring resource persons and other experts to boost
the technical development of the
game”, he said.
