Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare completed a sprint double
by adding to the women's 200m title to her 100m crown at the
Commonwealth Games here on Thursday.
The 25-year-old clocked 22.25 seconds ahead of English duo Jodie Williams and Bianca Williams.
In the men's 200m, Jamaica swept the medals, with Rasheed Dwyer taking gold in 20.14, ahead of Warren Weir and Jason Livermore.
Two more Jamaicans, Kaliese Spencer and Janieve Russell, won gold and
bronze respectively in the women's 400m hurdles. The silver went to
Scotland's Eilidh Child.
South Africa's Cornel Fredericks won the men's 400m hurdles in 48.50,
beating Trinidad and Tobago's Jehue Gordon and Jeffery Gibson of the
Bahamas into second and third places.
Six-time Paralympic champion David Weir won his first Commonwealth gold medal in the men's T54 1,500m. India's Vikas Shive Gowda took the men's discus with a
throw of 63.64. Cypriot Apostolos Parellis finished second and Jason
Morgan of Jamaica was third.
