Sports Life: I Was Abused As A Child, Says Tyson

Mike Tyson says he was sexually abused as a seven-year-old in Brooklyn

MIKE Tyson has revealed that he was sexually molested at the age of seven growing up in New York.
The former boxer told SiriusXM’s Opie Radio that he managed to escape and that it was a once-off incident.
“He snatched me off the street,” the 48-year-old said. “I was a little kid ... [he was an] old man.”
“[He] bullied me, sexually abused me and stuff,” Tyson said. “Never seen him again.”
Tyson has been open about his difficult childhood but said he never told anyone about the abuse
“I just went on with my life,” he said.
Asked if the assault changed him, Tyson said: “I don’t know if it did or not.”
“I don’t always remember, but maybe I do but I don’t. I’m not ashamed or embarrassed by it.”
Tyson of course went on to claim the title of the world heavyweight boxing champion in the 1980s but in 1992 he was convicted of raping teenage beauty queen Desiree Washington and served three years in prison.
In 1997 he was suspended from boxing for biting rival Evander Holyfield on both ears.
He star declared bankruptcy in 2003 and retired from professional boxing in 2006.
Since his retirement, Tyson has popped up in a number of movies, including The Hangover and even had his own one-man show on Broadway.
