Enyimba's Mfon Udoh on Sunday broke the record of most goals scored in a
league season previously held by Jude Aneke when he scored in his sides
one all draw against Dolphins in Port Harcourt.
Udoh went into the game last Sunday as joint top scorer on 20 goals with Dolphins Emem Eduok in one of the games of the Niogerian Premier league.
While Emem failed to score, Udoh did with a
header which beat goalkeeper Rotimi Sunday in goal for the home side. That drew his side
level after Chidiebere Okolie had earlier given theDolphin
the lead.
Udoh though happy he had broken Aneke's record was disappointed Enyimba had failed to win the league.
"If truth must be told I am happy to break the record but that
was not the only essence of the game," he said on his club's website. "I would prefer we won
the league than me getting the golden boot. But well, God has a way of
working for us maybe that's the way he wants it."
Jude Aneke had in November 2011 set a league record of most goals
scored in a season when he broke Ahmed Musa's record of 18 goals by
scoring 20. As it stands now his drewm is well over as Kano Pillars have been crwned champions of 2014 season.
