Ecuador claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory Tuesday
over Trinidad and Tobago with an injury-time goal to qualify for the
women' s World Cup for the first time.
The first leg of the play-off match on Nov. 8 in Quito, capital of Ecuador, ended in a 0-0 draw.
At the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago' s Soca Princesses dominated most of the second leg.
However, the Ecuadorian grabbed one of the few opportunities they
created. Quinteros sent her national team into the World Cup with a
header in the first of three minutes of added time.
It is the first time for Ecuador to win the ticket for the women' s
World Cup. They qualified to playoffs after finishing third in women's
Copa America tournament, held in Ecuador in September.
The 2015 women's World Cup will be held in Canada.
