FIFA President, Sepp Blatter will visit Kenya in March to open a
stadium that was refurbished by the global football governing body.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Sam Nyamweya told journalists in
Nairobi on Wednesday that Blatter will visit Kenya to open the
5,000-seater Moi Stadium in the city of Kisumu. FIFA funded the laying
of its artificial playing surface.
The world football governing body provided over 600,000 U.S. dollars
for the refurbishment of the arena that will see the most prominent
sporting arena in western Kenya elevated to international standards.
The funds were provided through FIFA's GOAL project, which is meant
to facilitate FIFA member countries with funds to implement projects
designed to develop football in their countries.
The implementation of project, which was overseen by FKF and involved
the installation of an artificial turf on the football pitch, commenced
in August 2012.
