A Scottish footballer was left needing stitches to a gash on his face after a shockingly high tackle at the weekend. Heart of Midlothian midfielder Sam Nicholson was in the midst of juggling the ball past the half way line in a league match against Scottish Championship side, Livingston, on Saturday.
As the 20-year-old Hearts winger turned towards the centre
of the field, Livingston captain Jason Talbot
went in foot high and studs up straight into the face of the Hearts midfielder
talbot was only punished with a yellow card by referee Brian
Colvin. That decision now appears to be under review.
The Scottish Football Association is considering issuing a
retrospective punishment, according to the BBC.
The tackle inspired Hearts to a 3-2 victory and took them 19
points clear at the top of the league.
If they maintain their current standing they will be
promoted to the Scottish top flight, the Scottish Premiership.
Meanwhile, Livingston
continues to languish in last place and looks set to to be relegated to the
third tier of Scottish football, League One
