Real Madrid
superstar Cristiano Ronaldo hopes to get back in the good graces of
Blancos supporters after a rare dip in form and some questionable
off-pitch decisions.
Dermot Corrigan
of ESPN FC reports the stretch, which included a heated exchange with a
journalist and a birthday celebration shortly after a Real loss, have
left the forward in a tough spot. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is confident
things will change soon:
"You get heated, you are at home, you have family... and tomorrow you
have an argument," Mendes said. "For any reason. You can see that. But
is not easy to be Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano is human. He has good
moments and bad moments. He has always been improving, but he is a human
being."
He also discussed the continued evolution of the reigning Ballon d'Or winner.
"Since I have known him, he has always been the same in terms of
ambition and determination – he always wants more and more," he said.
"And I can be sure that he will evolve in ways that will impress people,
because for him it is always important to be the best."
Marca
notes the Portugal international is "repentant and feeling the pinch"
as a result of the stretch and is looking to some of his longtime
teammates for support.
Ronaldo has failed to score in four of his last six matches, which
almost amounts to a drought based on the standards he's set over the
past few years. He also picked up a red card during a victory over
Cordoba late last month.
