World Cup 2015: Tendulkar Is God, Gayle Is Godzilla Of Cricket

There's every reason to call West Indies player Chris Gayle the Godzilla of cricket. On Tuesday, the Jamaican hit the fastest double century hitting 16 sixes and 10 fours to reach 215 against a hapless Zimbabwe.
Not only did this feat make Gayle the member of the elite 200 club that till now comprised Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma, but also made him the first batsman to do so on a huge stage like the World Cup.
The double ton couldn't have come on a better day than February 24, which was the same day that Sachin Tendulkar had notched up his 200 against the South Africans five years ago, in 2010.
Many people are also attributing the double century to the pressure faced by Gayle after the Windies board president Dave Cameron retweeted a fan's response during the game between Pakistan and West Indies (where Gayle got out quite early) that "Gayle...can't buy a run. Let's give him a retirement package."
The online world was abuzz with tweets about Gayle's brutal innings and how the day will come to signify two milestones in the world of cricket from now on.
