With the African Nations Championship over in South Africa,
coach Stephen Keshi has been urged by fellow ex-internationals, Nicholas
Ukadike and Franklin Howard to end experimentation with home based players but pay
more attention on building his team for the world cup proper. Ukadike, who
spoke in an interview said “I believe is over with the idea of giving more
players chance to prove their worth in friendly matches or in pre competition
events because time is no more there to play with. He should focus fully on
building our team for the world cup.Whoever he, Keshi has discovered good for
the team during CHAN, he can make use of. Speaking in a similar vein, Howard,
now handler of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan said it is more important
now for Keshi to build the squad with players he has than scout for more.
Whatever he can do to make Nigeria
have good representation at the World Cup should be his primary focus and
nothing of looking for more players. I believe we have enough already and there
is need to get the players to blend, make them psychologically, mentally and
physically prepared and ready for a world cup action in Brazil, Howard stated.”
