Dani Alves has stated that winning titles is all that matters to him and that qualifying for the next round of the Champions League or other cup competitions means nothing unless you win the trophy.
Barcelona
and Real Madrid face each other this weekend in the El Clásico and the
Brazilian defender has been speaking to GoIT ahead of the match with Football
Espana quoting the full back.
The 30-year-old said: “I’m one who doesn’t say anything by
halves. Getting through to the next round doesn’t mean anything to me.
“The titles that I get or the medals and cup replicas I have
in my house say it all. The rest doesn’t matter to me.”
Alves will face Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday and will be
directly matched up against the best player in the world.
Although it is a huge task it is the type of challenge he
relishes, the Brazilian said about facing the Portuguese Ronaldo: “To me, it’s
what motivates me, to compete against the best and not play against someone
inferior.
“What moves me about my job is when I face the best, because
I’ve prepared so much to face the best.
“If I didn’t face the best I wouldn’t be at Barcelona, I’d be at my
home-town team instead.
