Super Eagles and Hapoel Beer
Sheva’s Austine Ejide was substituted in the 52nd minute following a rib
injury in his side’s 2-1 away win against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the
Israeli topflight on Saturday.
Ejide is one of the four goalkeepers included in Stephen Keshi’s 30-man World Cup preliminary squad for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
His team was a goal up in the first half courtesy of Maor
Buzaglo’s 33rd minute strike before he was pulled out when it was
evident that he could not continue with the game.
The 30-year old shot stopper who boasts of 25 caps for the
country was in the Nigeria squad to the 2002 and 2010 Fifa World Cups
and has featured 33 times for his team this season conceding 27 goals.
Hapoel Beer Sheva are expected to carry
out detailed tests on the Nigerian this week to establish the level of
his injury which could rule him out of the 2014 World Cup in June.
