Brazil striker Fred has revealed his desire to meet Argentina in an all-South American World Cup final in July.
The 30-year was last week included in Luiz Felipe Scolari's 23-man squad for the June 12-July 13 tournament in Brazil.
And he made no secret of his wish to play off for football's most
coveted prize against Brazil's southern neighbors at Rio de Janeiro's
iconic Maracana stadium.
"I think all Brazilians want to play against Argentina in the final and win," Fred said in a Facebook interview with football's governing body FIFA.
"But other giants like Italy, Spain and France
would be special too. A final against Portugal would be something
historic. They are our friends but in the last few years we have
developed a big rivalry. it would be a pleasure but difficult."
Fred has recaptured his goalscoring form for Brazil's Fluminense
after a thigh injury sidelined him for the last four months of 2013.
When asked which rival defender he most dreaded playing against, the
former Lyon forward did not hesitate to nominate Italy's Juventus
centre-back Giorgio Chiellini.
"Italy have a very strong defense, but especially Chiellini. I really like the way he plays."
Brazil have been drawn in Group A of the World Cup alongside Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon.
