Sani Kaita who first featured for The Elephants in the 1-1 draw at Sharks on Matchday 11 since he joined the six-time premier league champions got the Aba crowd on their feet just after the half hour mark when his right foot volley from 30 yards whizzed past goalkeeper John Shuaibu.
It was spectacular stuff from the man whom home fans of Enyimba had been eager to watch. Before Kaita's goal however, Enyimba should have been at least three goals up but some astonishing misses from Mfon Udoh, Abdulrahman Bashir and Andrew Abalogu meant the ex-international would be the man to give the team a vital lead in his first home game.
Mfon Udoh who had scored the solitary goal for Enyimba in the 3-1 defeat at Lafia to Nasarawa United could not replicate his goalscoring form in Aba and he should have put the Elephants ahead as early as the 6th minute when Andrew Abalogu picked him out but his effort was well wide.
On form?:
"It's normal that at times your body fails you. Luckily I have had only
small problems. It's normal; many players have been injured. The
important thing is that I feel good."
The final: "We have worked all season to reach this final. I'm happy to be in my first Champions League final with Real. I hope we go into the game raring to go, the fans behind us, with their support and with the Portuguese behind Pepe, Coentrao and myself."
La Liga: "Winning is always good, to keep you on form emotionally. Atlético are very happy and excited about winning la Liga and go into the game on a high. But a final is something different. It's 50-50."
