With names of Nigeria’s World cup bound players now known, FA
Technical committee member, Garba and former Super Eagles Assistant coach,
Kelechi Emeteole have given their support to coach Stephen Keshi on his team list
issued recently in Abuja. “Mind you I was at the meeting when he presented the
list giving reasons for his choice of players. Since he is the coach and has in
mind the formation he intends to adopt at the competition, I believed his
presentations and gave my support because the important thing is that we have
to go out there and give a good account of our country. God’s willing we shall
achieve it,” said the Atlanta ’96 Olympic gold medalist. Lawal said “it was
imperative that Nigeria gets on with preparations for the Mundiale, knowing
that the world cup is a big event requiring good handling the committee is
working in consonance with the technical crew to ensure there is a team ready
to do battle in Brazil, stating “I believe the team has what it takes to
deliver the goods. We will support Keshi to succeed,” he stated
Speaking in a telephone chat, Emeteole, who is technical
adviser of Heartland FC of Owerri on his part said “We ought to have known
Keshi by now and we just have to trust him because he gave us cause to jubilate
in past efforts and now is when he needs our collective support to carry out
his plans for the world cup. He is the one that wears the shoe; he knows the
type of players capable of making his team work. We need to back him to achieve
the best for our country,” Emeteole said
