Keshi to Remains Nigeria's head coach

Stephen Keshi on Wednesday renewed his contract as head coach of the Nigerian senior national football team, putting the speculation that he looked forward to working outside the West African country to rest.
Keshi agreed to a new contract in a letter transmitted to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) through his personal assistant, but not without requesting for prompt payment of his salaries and provision of an official residence and car by his employers. His initial three-year contract with the NFF was without such benefits.
Speculations were high that he would work in any of the six countries which had earlier signified interest to hire him as head coach. Also, there were indications that another coach was being considered to head the Nigerian team after the African champions crashed out of this year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
A 2-0 loss to France in the Round of 16 stage at the world cup ended Nigeria's dream of advancing to the quarter-finals to meet Ghana's record of being the first and only African country to reach that stage.
Nigeria would play on home soil against Rwanda on Sept. 7 to book a place in 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco.
