SOCCER legend Pele thinks fellow
Brazilian player Neymar is one of the world’s best, but just don’t
compare him to the master himself.
“Maybe he plays like Messi, like Cristiano Ronaldo, but a player
like Pele, no way, because my mother and my father, they closed the
machine,” he joked.
Speaking from Barcelona before he embarks on
an Australian tour this month, the 74-year-old football superstar
nominated Argentina’s Lionel Messi as the best player of the past
decade: “He’s a complete player for the team and he scores goals. In
the last two years the one excellent player was Cristiano Ronaldo
because he has a good strike and scores goals.”
And Pele puts Neymar in the top three, saying “the game is in good shape now”.
Pele said Australia should get the chance to host a World Cup and praised the Socceroos last World Cup performance.
Renowned as the sport’s leading goal-scorer, Pele will present
Pele My Life. My Story in Melbourne on March 26 and Sydney on March 27.
