*Nemanja Matic to sign new deal
Nemanja Matic is close to agreeing a new contract with Chelsea, which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2020.
The Serbian midfielder has impressed for the English club since re-joining the club from Benfica in January 2014.Chelsea are believed to have offered Matic £93,000 a week to keep him at the club
*Samir Nasri: “My dream is to play in MLS”
Manchester City star Samir Nasri has revealed that he would like to one day follow his “dream” by playing his trade in MLS.
The 27-year-old has spent seven years in English football with Arsenal and now Manchester City, winning two Premier League titles and a League Cup since making a controversial switch to the Etihad Stadium.
Nasri still has four years remaining on his current deal with the Citizens having agreed bumper new terms 12 months ago, although he is already looking ahead to his next possible destination.
“Marseille would be the only place that I’d like to play in France, but I think it’s not realistic,” the Frenchman told Sport Magazine. “My dream is to play in the MLS maybe, because I love the lifestyle in America.”
*Ronaldo has not scored free kick for Madrid in 51 attempts
According to Spanish daily AS, Cristiano Ronaldo has not been able to score from a direct free kick for Real Madrid in over 10 months and in 51 attempts.
His last trademark free kick was during the 4-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals that took place on April 29 of last year.
The statistics include that 21 free kicks hit the wall, 14 were off target, and 16 had been saved by the goalkeeper, or hit the woodwork.
* Brazil recalls Robinho
Brazil coach Dunga has recalled Robinho to the Brazil squad in order to play in the friendlies with France and Chile coming up.
The game against France will take place on March 26 at the Stade de France, and two days later, they will play against their rivals Chile at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
While Robinho was not selected in the squad for the friendlies against Turkey and Austria in November, his recent form for Santos was a factor in him being recalled now.
* Aliou Cisse appointed as new Senegal coach
Aliou Cisse has officially been appointed as the new coach of Senegal, replacing Alain Giresse, who left after the Africa Cup of Nations.
Giresse had been coach since 2013, and former midfielder Cisse will fill in the position, and has been spending time as part of the nation’s coaching setup in the last few years.
Cisse had made 35 appearances for the Lions of Teranga.
