Champions League:Pillars plan big for 2014
Head
coach of Nigeria league champions, Baba Ganaru has disclosed there
would be far reaching changes to the team as part of measures to
ensure a good outing in the continental competition next year. “We
are going to do a good recruitment so that we will give Nigeria good
representation when the champions league hostility resumes. Part of
plans he said would be recruitment of more players and reordering of
priorities.
According to Ganaru, Pillar’s Champions League chances
are very bright, as the team had begun intensive preparations soon
after the Nigerian season ended recently.
“ the team would intensify training to ensure that we
really make an impact in the continent,” adding that “the team’s
management is set to recruit new players ahead of the new season.
‘’We are going to avoid what happened last Nigeria
and we will make Nigeria proud come next year. We will endeavor to
play in the finals, he enthused.
The Kano side made history by winning
the league title back to back but must next make an impact in Africa
to join the elite clubs from Nigeria such as Shooting Stars, Enugu
Rangers and Eyimba which have won on title or another in the
continent.
While Enyimba have won the champions
League twice, in 2003/2004, Shooting Stars and Rangers have in their
kitty, the defunct CAF Cup.
