Isco, Emerges As The Fans 'Choice To Replace Alonso

*Isco

Real Madrid fans have chosen Isco, with 54% of the vote, as the man to stand in for the suspended Xabi Alonso in the Champions League final, according to a poll taken on MARCA.com. Surprisingly, the second in line was Casemiro (24.8%), ahead of Illarramendi (14.6%).
Sami Khedira received the least votes (6.6%), given his lack of recent participation in official competition.
Carlo Ancelotti has three weeks to decide who will replace the midfielder and accompany Modric and Di MarĂa. MARCA.com users opted for Isco, the most attacking option. However, in this case Isco would not replace Xabi Alonso per se, but play where Luka Modric plays, further up the field, and the Croat would drop back to stand in for the Spaniard.
Surprisingly, Casemiro received 10% more votes than Illarramendi, who would be more of a direct replacement. Still fresh in the minds of the Real Madrid supporters is the recent game when Illarra came in for criticism in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Dortmund, and the Brazilian came off the bench to put in an excellent performance.
Sami Khedira was the last player to get the nod from the 'Merengue' fans. Although the German has recovered from his injury, his last game in a Real Madrid shirt was on 9th November, 2013 against Real Sociedad.
