Former
Brazil international Zico has admitted he is “surprised” Argentina Head
Coach hasn’t chosen Carlos Tevez for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The
forward enjoyed an outstanding debut season in Serie A with Juventus,
but has been continually overlooked by Sabella, who has preferred the
likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Rodrigo Palacio and Franco Di Santo as his
reserve forwards.
“I am, however, really surprised that Sabella did not call up Carlos Tevez,” he wrote in his column for The Guardian.
“He has been a champion pretty much wherever he has gone and has had a
great season with Juventus. I would have taken him but in the end it is
clearly the manager’s choice and the fact is that Argentina are a very
dangerous team that can win the World Cup.”
Tevez last played for Argentina 2011 and, as yet, has never been called up by Sabella.
