Mourinho Hopes Oscar Stops Diving

JUST days after condemning Luis Suarez's "acrobatic swimming pool dives", Jose Mourinho found himself in another diving debate as midfielder Oscar hit the deck too easily in the penalty box and received a yellow card against Southampton.
The timing was ironic, given at the same time at Old Trafford, David Moyes condemned a "scandalous" decision by Howard Webb not to award Ashley Young - who has a reputation for going down too easily - what looked a certain penalty against Tottenham.
Although Mourinho defended his Brazilian playmaker's character, the Special One continued his crusade against diving and agreed with referee Martin Atkinson's decision to punish the theatrical collapse - and hopes it sets a precedent to "kill this situation".
The incident came just moments after Oscar entered the fray as a substitute, before submitting a man of the match performance in a 3-0 win.
“It was a good decision by Atkinson. Oscar deserved the card,” Mourinho said.
“But when you see players from other teams then hopefully when one of the top referees in this country and in Europe has a good decision on this yellow card, hopefully people follow and kill this situation. Oscar is a clean player and he was waiting for the goalkeeper to smash him because that is what normally happens in this situation. It happened with Oscar and Jaaskelainen against West Ham but the goalkeeper was not coming.
