Lionel Messi is still regarded by many astute observers as
the best footballer on the planet, and yet a few poor showings have seen some Barcelona fans stick the
knife into the Argentine superstar.
First, he received steadfast support by club president Josep
Maria Bartomeu, who criticised Barca fans for giving Messi a hard time.
“I think people are being unfair to Leo Messi,” Bartomeu
said.
“He’s a young player, the best in the world and we have
every faith in him.”
Just to prove the point, Messi went on to score a late
winner from a free kick in Barcelona’s
match against Athletic Bilbao on Monday morning
But the tide is starting to turn back in Messi’s favour.
