EVERTON star Romelu Lukaku just had one of those golden days that players dream about in the English Premier League.
Even whacking some poor lady in the stands with a wild shot during the warm up managed to turn out rosy for the Belgian striker.
Lukaku was warming up for his team’s second-week clash against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium when a shot for goal sizzled above the posts and thumped a woman sitting around 10 rows from the front.
What happened next surprised everyone in the stand and earned Lukaku plenty of admiration on social media.
The 22-year-old immediately stopped his warm up and hopped the stadium signage fence and began walking up into the stands to apologise to the woman, who was wearing a Southampton shirt.
It didn’t stop Lukaku from handing the woman an Everton training shirt as an apology.
Flanked by security Lukaku gave the woman a hug and then ran back down the stairs A video of Lukaku’s stair climb went viral before kick-off, making Lukaku the most talked about footballer in England.
Then the story took another twist.
He scored two stunning first half goals to give Everton a 2-0 lead at half time.
The Toffees’ lead was extended to 3-0 late by midfielder Ross Barkley.
Lukaku’s first goal came from a beautifully placed looping header which glided into the top right hand corner.
In the 44th minute Lukaku popped up again for his second goal with a low strike from outside the box that flew into the bottom right corner.
Lukaku had scored just four goals in his past 23 matches for Everton.
His brace against Southampton had some Everton fans calling for the woman in the stands to attend every Everton game.to the sound of clapping from nearby fans.
