Host Club Omnisport de Meknes (CODM) of Morocco and Kenya''s United States International University (USIU) basketball club Friday tipped off the The 19th edition of the Africa Champions Cup for Women in a group-A game.
It
was the only game slated for the first day of the championship
although preceded by an opening ceremony
Though
CODM is top seed in this group, they are however contending with the
firepower of former champions Primeiro D’Agosto basketball club of
Angola and feeble challenge from Nigeria's Dolphin basketball club.
2012
runner-up Interclube basketball club of Angola are also top seed in group-B with I.R. Tanger basketball club of Morocco, First
Deepwater basketball club of Nigeria and Eagle Wings basketball club
of Kenya in contention for the championship qualification ticket.
The
competition features the twelve best teams from FIBA Africa
zone.Teams from Mozambique may have won the championship more time
but Dakar University Club of Senegal remain the most crowned side with three titles in 1993, 1997 and 1999 all won on home the front.
