BRAZIL2014:AFRICA's HOPEFULS EMERGE

Africa's five flag bearers to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil took shape Saturday and Tuesday in crackers spread across the continent. First was Nigeria, which dumped Ethiopia in clear terms. Then Cameroun followed after discharging Tunisia , Ivory Coast then rode over Senegal Ghana dispatched Egypt despite losing by 2-1 and finally, it was Algeria that dropped Burkina Faso in a hard fought battle that gave the north Africans a clear passage.
The five join countries like Argentina, host Brazil, Australia, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and Russia. Attention now shifts to real preparations for competition proper ahead of the draws on December 6.
