Obi, Oboabona tip Eagles for glory in 2014 World Cup

Super Eagles duo of John Obi Mikel and Godfrey Oboabona have said they foresee a better national team next year, which is a World Cup year but warned against complacency on the part of the players.

Mikel, who plays for Chelsea in the English Premier League, EPL and defence ace Godfrey Oboabona, were speaking on radio programme monitored in Lagos shortly after Nigeria's friendly match against Italy in London. The match was drawn 2-2.
Mikel Obi declared that Nigeria has the potentials to take on the best teams and cause an upset at next year’s World Cup, if the players played with the same spirit that enabled the team win the African Cup of Nations in South Africa early this year.
The potentials are obvious but we must avoid arrogance and complacency. With that this team will go places”, he said.
Oboabona, who spoke in a similar vein, declared that he learned a lot from playing against the Italians.
I noticed that before any player moves the other person already knows where to run. They were very clever with the ball and I told some of my team mates that we must borrow that style of play from them. If we do that with the type of technical crew we have at the moment, our team will go places”, Oboabona said.
Both players have been pillars in Stephen Keshi's present Eagles side
