Nigerian Premier League club, Heartland FC of Owerri said their off
season will begin pre- 2013/2014 season activities Wednesday 13
November with screening of new and potential players which will run
into the weekend. That means that new club recruits are to join camp
immediately g as old players of the team have been told to resume by
Monday,18 November and would be termed to have gone AWOL should they
fail to respect this time-line.
A club statement said management had
held a meeting over the weekend during which time it approved a
programme submitted by the technical crew led by coach Ramson Madu.
Meanwhile, the club statement denied
reports it was in the process of engaging any new technical adviser
whether local or foreign, saying that such speculation was mere
rumor. Heartland has in the out-gone season, had running battles with
it's players following over unpaid remunerations, spanning sign on
fees, salaries and match bonuses. Accusing fingers are on the owner
Imo State Government for the clubs' lingering woes
I will be recalled that Heartland were the Nigerian League runner-up in 2008 and reached the CAF Champions League finals in 2009. The cup was won by CongoDRC side, P.T. Mazembe.
