One of them is the former IBWA Sharp Shooters FC of Lagos
goal tender, Tope Ogunkua, who believes that the Super Eagles have what
it takes to fly over the Walya of Ethiopia in their November 16,
second leg play off for the World Cup, slated for U. J. Esuene
Stadium, in Calabar, Nigeria.“The journey is half done," he said adding " Two away
goals in in Dis Ababa favour of Nigeria is massive. We are one step to Brazil, but the Super Eagles
should not be complacent. They should remain focused and beat Ethiopia
because our target is to pick the ticket to Brazil,” he
stated. “Super Eagles have come a long way, hence they
cannot afford to fumble at this stage. I believe they Eagles should play total
football as they did in 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa in order to make
the journey a day dream for the Ethiopians and celebrations for all Nigerians.”
Although he expressed implicit confidence
in the players' ability to perform , Ogukua would offer some tactical tips
for the decider. “I cannot see Ethiopian stopping us. I am very
optimistic about this”, he enthused, pointing out that duo of
Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses is a solid partner that would sink
the Walya of Ethiopia no matter how aggressive they come. He however,
advised the super Eagles to note that “it is not only the player
who scored a goal gets all the credit. If you are at a scoring range
but not a better position to score, please pass the ball to the
person in a better position, the incumbent chairman of Managers FC.

World
Cup:All Stars Lagos drum support for Eagles
Ex-Internationals and National
footballers have thrown their weights behind the Super Eagles of
Nigeria in their efforts to pick a ticket for the Brazil 2014 FIFA
World Cup finals at the expense of Walya of Ethiopia. The Super Eagles
will confront Walya of Ethiopia in their crucial second leg final
play off at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, on November 16.
Although the encounter has been drubbed
a make or break affair, but the country's soccer Ambassadors of
years past unanimously tipped the reigning champions of Africa to
maul Ethiopia beyond debate and pick the ticket for the Mundial. “We
are going to Calabar to cheer the Super Eagles to victory,” they
told our sports correspondent in Lagos,
.Former NEPA FC. Of Lagos midfielder,
Frank Tandoh, has this to say: “Nigeria is already at the FIFA
World Cup finals. Ethiopia know very well that they cannot come and
perform what they could not perform on their soil. On the match day,
we will assume that Nigeria is 90 minutes away to the 2014 FIFA World
Cup finals.”
But ex-University of Uyo midfielder in
the NUGA Games soccer event, Uduak Evans Udoukpong, said that the
Ethiopia defence will as usual fall prey to the scintillating
attackers of the Super Eagles by conceding two goals to nil, in the
same vein that Nuru Gege Odehili opined that since Nigeria had
defeated Ethiopia 2 – 1 on their soil they will fall again in
Calabar. “In fact with the massive support the AFCON Kings will
get there, there will be no hiding place for the Ethiopians.
And a retired top Referee and former
striker of the defunct Federal Ministry of works FC. Lagos, Stephen
Adigwe said that “the Eagles are far better than the Ethiopians in
football. We have more exposed players than any other country in the
continent. Since Nigeria beat them 2 – 0 in the last African Cup
of Nations, there will be a repeat by the same margin of victory.
Former Academical player and now Lagos
State Academicals Coach Mike Malagwu, stressed that “coach Keshi
started well in the campaign and he is going to end up well. He
tipped the Super Eagles to win 2 – 0.
However, the former First Bank FC. of
Lagos mid-fielder Tesima Ahmed – said anything tough that the Walya
of Ethiopia can do, the Super Eagles will do it tougher at U.J.
Esuene Stadium, this Saturday.
