The London 2012 Paralympic Games bronze medalist, Obarentin Omoruyi, has emerged champion of the maiden edition of the Edo State Para Table Tennis Competition in the men standing category held in the State capital Benin City south-south Nigeria.
Omoruyi defeated Efosa Osaigbovo in the final of the competition to cart away the prize.
Despite the victory, Omoruyi has however appealed for more competitions to help physically challenged athletes improve their game and keep the Nigeria flag flying in international competitions, “just as we did in the London 2012 Games, where Nigeria’s only medals came from the Paralympic Games and none from the Olympic Games.
