During penalties, Ghana converted four of their kicks against three by the visitors, to make it a hat-trick of appearances at the global youth women’s championship. The West Africans made their debut at the 2010 edition (in Germany) before staging yet another appearance two years later (in Japan).
The feat affirmed Ghana’s dominance over their Equatoguinean counterparts after pipping them to the ticket for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica last year.
Earlier, Nigeria were the first to qualify after demolishing South Africa's Banyana Banyana by a lone goal in Johannesburg. Nigeria had made the first tie 7-0, hence the second leg was a mere formality.
