MOYES: THE RECORD BREAKER: IS MOYES A DEAD MAN WALKING?

Monday morning’s 2-0 loss to Everton saw David Moyes’s Manchester United achieve another three milestones in the Scotsman’s first season in charge at Old Trafford, and they don’t make for nice reading if you’re a Red Devils fan.
• United will finish the season with their lowest ever EPL points tally
• Moyes’s side has failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1995
• It’s the club’s worst home league form for over a decade
• First ever home defeat to Swansea
• First home loss to Newcastle since 1972
• First home loss to West Brom since 1978
• First league defeat to Stoke since 1984
• Tasted three successive defeats for the first time since 2001
• Eliminated in the FA Cup third round – this happened just once under Sir Alex Ferguson
• First time United conceded a first-minute goal in the Premier League – Edin Dzeko (City)
• First time City & Liverpool have beaten the Red Devils home & away since Premier League’s inception (1992)
• First time Everton, Man City & Liverpool have beaten United both home & away since EPL’s inception
• First time Everton has beaten United home and away since 1969-70
• First time Merseyside duo Everton & Liverpool have ever done a league double over United in the same season
Meanwhile, many people already think David Moyes is a dead man walking – in a figurative sense – after guiding Manchester United to what will be its worst season in the Premier League era.
But the good folk at an Irish betting giant – we’ll leave you to guess which one – took the metaphor a step further by hiring a man dressed as the grim reaper to sit behind the Scottish manager on his return to his old stomping ground, Goodison Park.
While Moyes was in no danger of meeting his maker, he could be due for a meeting with his masters at Man United after suffering yet another defeat, which ensured the Red Devils won’t play Champions League football for the first time since 1995.
However, he did have one minor victory. The grim reaper was escorted out of the ground midway through the first half.
