The Giallorossi’s 1-0 win at Fiorentina on Saturday guaranteed them a place in next season’s edition of Europe’s premier club competition.
“We are happy and satisfied, both for the win and for securing second place,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.
“Roma always belong in the Champions League, as it is such an important club and city."
The
32 year-old, who was signed on a free transfer from Manchester City in
July 2013, also refuses to concede the Scudetto to Juventus, despite the
fact Roma are eight points adrift of the Old Lady with just four games left to play.
"The Scudetto race isn’t over as long as we have hope, even though we know Juventus won’t let go either," he continued.
“We
believed right from the start that we could do it. I am also happy with
my own personal performance this season, as I feel important to this
team.”
