Bosnian coach of Algerian football
squad Vahid Halilhozic on Monday selected 30 players to contest a place
among the final 23-man squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup due in Brazil
from June 12 to July 13.The provisional list includes five players performing in British clubs, including for the first time Leicester forward Ryad Mahrez who claimed his place thanks to his exceptional performance this season while helping his English side to join the Premiere League.
The majority of the selected players perform in European leagues, including in Britain, France, Italy and Spain. The list includes only 5 local league based players.
Livorno's striker Ishak Belfodil was kept as a potential substitution to Porto's striker Nabil Ghilas who could be dropped out of the list due to injury.
Algeria will face Belgium, Russia and South Korea in Group H at the World Cup in Brazil, as Halilhozic is due to submit a final squad of 23 players by June 2 to FIFA.
