EURO BASKET: Underdog Maccabi Steals Title From Real

Florentino Perez disappointed by Euroleague defeat
*Dejected: Real players

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv was proclaimed Euroleague basketball champion in Milan after winning the final against Real Madrid 98-86 in a game that ran into overtime.
The presence of the Spanish club's president Florentino Pérez in the stands was not enough to save them from their second consecutive defeat in Europe's premier basketball trophy. Last season they were beaten by Olympiakos Piraeus.
The MVP of the final was Maccabi's point guard, Tyrese Rice, who scored 26 points.
Considered the underdog in the Final Four by most people, Maccabi surprised everyone by winning their sixth title in the competition. Against all odds the Israeli team had also defeated the mighty CSKA Moscow in the semifinals.
In the match to decide third place FC Barcelona defeated the Muscovite team 93-78.
