"There Are No Favourites; Sergio Ramos Is Trying To Trick Us
Juanfran
does not believe Ramos sees Atlético as favourites Juanfran Torres, the Atlético defender, said that "there are no
favourites" in the Champions League final, in contrast to statements by Sergio Ramos. "I can't believe Ramos
believes what he said yesterday. They're trying to trick us. I know him. I've
shared a dressing room with him and we get on really well, but I don't think he
believes what he said. They want us to go into it thinking we're the best, but
that's not going to happen," he explained. "The final is 50-50. There
are no favourites. We won't be overconfident," the 'Rojiblanco' full back
went on to say, before recalling last year's Copa del Rey final at the
Bernabéu. "In that final it looked like Real were better and I didn't
think there was a favourite. We're the same team from that final, but we've
grown a lot. I hope it goes the same way as that final. I hope we get the same
result," he added. Juanfran stressed that Real are not "more driven
or enthusiastic" than Atlético just because they have the possibility of
winning the tenth European Cup in their history. "We want it just as much.
Our first European Cup is the same as their tenth. We're just as enthusiastic
as they are," he warned. A triumph in the final, according to him, will
require "playing as a true team in every respect". "We need to
help each other out and be really supportive. We're facing one of the best
players in the world and a great side in Real Madrid. The game will be decided
on the details," he remarked.
